Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johnny hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). BJ Penn struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hawk shoots in for a double leg but Penn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

hawk had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Penn is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. hawk Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Penn's back instead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
