The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mallao scores with a nice body kick.
Mallao with a lazy takedown attempt
and Matuylevski counters by clinching up.
Mallao pushes off an throws an elbow but Matuylevski leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Mallao tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Matuylevski just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mallao tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Miroslav Matuylevski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Mallao.
Matuylevski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mallao uses from the top position.
Matuylevski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mallao's guard.

Mallao really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matuylevski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Matuylevski is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Matuylevski gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Matuylevski gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Matuylevski apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Mallao tries for a takedown but Matuylevski circles away easily
so Matuylevski counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mallao looks gassed!

Matuylevski passes the guard and advances to mount!
