Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrew Ridgeley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Smit!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smit gets off balance looking for a body kick
letting Ridgeley counter with a right hand.
Ridgeley jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Ridgeley scores with a crisp jab that stopped Smit in his tracks.
Ridgeley lands an overhand right.
Paul Smit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smit moves in looking to clinch but Ridgeley pushes him off.

Smit drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smit prevents Ridgeley from escaping the position.
Smit landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Check out the look on Smit's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Ridgeley is trying to control Smit's posture but Smit avoids it.

Smit decides to stand back up. Smit steps back and let's Ridgeley get back to his feet.

Smit misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Ridgeley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ridgeley tests Smit's chin there with a solid looking shot.

enabling Ridgeley to counter with a crisp jab.
Ridgeley circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smit tries to close the distance and clinch but Ridgeley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smit gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Smit walks into a left hand.
A jab from Ridgeley does it's job there.

Smit pushes Ridgeley up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ridgeley is pressed up against the cage. Smit has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ridgeley down to the mat. Ridgeley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Andrew Ridgeley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Smit.
Smit looks gassed!
Smit tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ridgeley swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ridgeley counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Ridgeley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Smit throws a head kick that misses
and Ridgeley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A lazy body kick from Smit
and Ridgeley counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ridgeley looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smit is fending him off so far but Ridgeley persists. Nope, Smit circles away and we're back to standing.
Ridgeley bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Ridgeley looks to land a combination. Smit sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Ridgeley moves into range and connects with a jab.

Ridgeley circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smit defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ridgeley.
Ridgeley lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A lazy left from Ridgeley finds it's target.
Ridgeley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smit avoids it really well and circles away.
Smit walks into a jab.
Smit takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Smit tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ridgeley paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ridgeley keeps the fight on the outside.
Ridgeley lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Ridgeley scores with a sloppy right hand. Smit should have avoided that one.
Ridgeley keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Ridgeley counters with a nice body shot.
Smit looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ridgeley is fending him off so far but Smit persists. Nope, Ridgeley circles away and we're back to standing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smit takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Nice uppercut lands for Ridgeley. That snapped Smit's head back.
A left lands for Ridgeley.
Smit misses with a takedown attempt - Ridgeley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ridgeley scores with a one two! Smit had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Ridgeley bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Smit's head.
Ridgeley lands a jab-cross combination.
Smit shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smit is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ridgeley dances in with a quick combination. Smit is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Ridgeley snaps Smit's head back. Smit stumbles backwards against the cage. Ridgeley steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Smit's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Smit just didn't come prepared.
