PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eki Vieri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heliodoro Zuberi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zuberi looks to land a combination but Vieri avoids it well.
Vieri throws a hook to the side of Zuberi's head but Zuberi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Vieri moves out of range of the leg kick from Zuberi.
Zuberi misses the shot to the body.
Vieri lands a jab.
Vieri swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Zuberi counters with a single leg into guard. Vieri didn't expect that.
Zuberi wants to pass the guard but Vieri is keeping the position.

Zuberi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vieri is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Zuberi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Vieri wants to stand up but Zuberi is controlling him.
Zuberi passes Vieri's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Vieri tries to kick Zuberi off but Zuberi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Zuberi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vieri is just riding it out for now. Zuberi eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Zuberi is trying to get an arm triangle but Vieri is defending well.

Zuberi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vieri knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Zuberi is working to tighten is grip on Vieri's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Vieri has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Zuberi is really squeezing tight and eventually Vieri passes out! Zuberi breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
