The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Townsend gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Valasvatsa to counter with a crisp jab.
Townsend throws an off balance right hand
and Valasvatsa counters with a nice uppercut.
Townsend with a lazy takedown attempt
and Valasvatsa counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Valasvatsa. Townsend does a little dance to reset his feet.
Townsend tries to clinch up
and Valasvatsa counters with a left to the body.
Townsend thows a body shot but no joy.
Townsend tries for a takedown but Valasvatsa circles away easily

and Valasvatsa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Townsend won't allow Valasvatsa to pass to mount.

Valasvatsa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Valasvatsa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Valasvatsa has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Townsend is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Valasvatsa yanks on the arm and Townsend is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Valasvatsa.
