Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Roosmalen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marko Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stefan Roosmalen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marko Polo!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roosmalen takes the fight into the clinch.

Roosmalen gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Polo regains guard.
Roosmalen showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Roosmalen throwing strikes but missing.
Roosmalen sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Stefan Roosmalen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Roosmalen fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Polo is out of range.

Polo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Roosmalen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Polo sprawls well initially but Roosmalen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Roosmalen working the head and body with strikes.
Polo is looking to escape.
Polo tries to get to full guard but Roosmalen has control of the leg.
Roosmalen slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Roosmalen has closed the distance and engaged Polo in a clinch.
Polo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Roosmalen smiles and moves away.

Roosmalen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Polo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Roosmalen is stalling in the full guard.
Polo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Roosmalen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Stefan Roosmalen wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Roosmalen fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Roosmalen connects with a high kick.


It looks like Marko Polo has been cut.
Polo swats away the attempt to clinch by Roosmalen.
Stefan Roosmalen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roosmalen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Polo is trying to get back to full guard.
Roosmalen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Roosmalen gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Roosmalen has taken the fight to the clinch.
Polo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Roosmalen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Stefan Roosmalen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marko Polo.
The referee calls for Roosmalen to work.
Roosmalen gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Polo lands a body punch in the clinch.

and Roosmalen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Roosmalen has Polo pushed against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Roosmalen as Polo tries to tie him up.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Polo drops down looking for an ankle pick but Roosmalen pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Roosmalen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Roosmalen looks for the body kick but Polo saw that one coming.
Roosmalen misses with a head kick.
Roosmalen throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Roosmalen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Roosmalen lands in his opponent's guard.
Roosmalen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Roosmalen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Polo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Roosmalen won't allow Polo to get back to his feet.
Roosmalen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Stefan Roosmalen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Roosmalen is trying to break the clinch but Polo is controlling him.
Polo misses with an elbow strike.
Roosmalen looking for a takedown.

Roosmalen content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Roosmalen digs a right hand into Polo's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Polo's gas tank.
Roosmalen is trying to stall.
Polo tries to pull guard but Roosmalen won't allow it.
Polo wants to break free but Roosmalen has control.

Polo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Roosmalen just stands there and leans against the cage.
Roosmalen has Polo pressed against the cage, preventing Polo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roosmalen trying to mount his opponent but Polo defends it.
Polo tries to roll over but Roosmalen keeps him under control.
Polo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Polo trying to get back to full guard but Roosmalen takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Stefan Roosmalen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Polo wants to hold on but Roosmalen pushes him away.
Polo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Roosmalen controlling the pace for now.
Roosmalen has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Polo tries to hold on but Roosmalen postures up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Roosmalen prevents Polo from getting the reversal.
Roosmalen looking to control and managing it successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Polo defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Roosmalen.
Roosmalen lands a big elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Stefan Roosmalen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Roosmalen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
