The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De la Vega needs to keep his hands up - Hutch had a free shot at his head there.
Hutch tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hutch darts in trying to clinch

and De la Vega counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hutch tries to kick De la Vega off but De la Vega keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hutch is defending against the submission attempts here by De la Vega.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hutch is looking to control De la Vega's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hutch avoid being mounted?

Hutch wants to improve his position but De la Vega is controlling well.

De la Vega is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hutch doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time De la Vega.

De la Vega trying to work for an americana but Hutch has managed to regain full guard.

De la Vega drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hutch looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hutch looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hutch!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
De la Vega tries to bench press Hutch off him but Hutch keeps the position.
Hutch trying to control the position but De la Vega is working away.
De la Vega is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Hutch landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

De la Vega is trying desperately to improve position.
