Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Duddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake VanVactor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). VanVactor has chosen Like a Pimp by David Banner as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jake VanVactor has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Duddy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake VanVactor!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanVactor fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Duddy falls off balance throwing a combination

and VanVactor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Duddy's guard.
VanVactor wants to control from the top but Duddy keeps moving.
VanVactor postures up.
VanVactor tries to free his leg and advance position but Duddy is retaining full guard.
VanVactor lands a couple of elbows.

Duddy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. VanVactor is aware though and is defending well.
VanVactor missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
VanVactor postures up in Duddy's guard and throws a big left but Duddy blocks it.

VanVactor wants to control from the top but Duddy keeps moving.
VanVactor advances to half guard.

VanVactor is trying to control the action in half guard but Duddy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
VanVactor stops Duddy from getting back to his feet.
VanVactor throwing shots but Duddy is blocking nicely.

Duddy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
VanVactor looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Duddy is trying to control but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
VanVactor works his way into side control.
VanVactor connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Duddy some visible discomfort.
Duddy is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Duddy struggling a bit here.
VanVactor throws an elbow but Duddy slips to the side and avoids it well.

VanVactor goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Duddy has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for VanVactor but great work by Duddy.
VanVactor is looking to reverse the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
VanVactor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
VanVactor wants to control but Duddy postures up.
VanVactor gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
It looks like Duddy is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Duddy is thwarting VanVactor's attempts to control the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
VanVactor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for VanVactor.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
VanVactor wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Duddy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of VanVactor is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake VanVactor dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

and VanVactor counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by VanVactor.
VanVactor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
VanVactor stops Duddy from standing up.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
VanVactor cracks Duddy with a solid left hand.
VanVactor chips away with some ground and pound.
VanVactor throwing strikes from guard but Duddy blocks nicely.
VanVactor advances position into side control!

VanVactor has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Duddy is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. VanVactor yanks on the arm and Duddy is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by VanVactor.
