PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murilo Magellan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Porter comes to the cage accompanied by Vicarious by Tool. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Porter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Murilo Magellan!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magellan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Porter swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Magellan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Porter is fending him off so far but Magellan persists. Nope, Porter circles away and we're back to standing.
Magellan throws a series of punches but Porter moves out of range.
Porter tries a head kick but it misses.
A jab-cross combination lands for Magellan and sends Porter crashing to the mat! Magellan follows him down to the mat - Porter regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Porter is rocked!

Magellan is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Porter has managed to free his arm - good work.
Oh Porter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Magellan has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Porter wants to control but Magellan is having none of it.
Porter seems to have got his legs back now.
Magellan won't let Porter get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Porter is trying to escape the mount.

Magellan stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Porter. No joy for Magellan on that attempt.
Magellan shoots in and drives through. Porter sprawls well.
Daniel Porter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Murilo Magellan.
Porter shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Porter falls off balance throwing a combination

and Magellan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Porter looking for a sweep. Not yet Porter, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Porter controls Magellan momentarily but Magellan frees himself.
Porter looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Magellan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Magellan looks gassed!
Porter connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Porter tries a head kick but it misses.
Porter throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Magellan counters with a takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Porter tries to buck Magellan off but Magellan is having none of it.
Porter is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Magellan asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Magellan trying to control the position but Porter is working away.
Porter wants to get back to his feet.

Magellan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Magellan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Magellan tries to advance to mount but Porter denies him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Magellan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Porter, who protects the arm well.

Magellan decides to stand back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Porter throws a poor cross that misses
and Magellan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


It looks like Daniel Porter has been cut.
Magellan is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Porter hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Murilo Magellan!
