PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Haminall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob McCaig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haminall comes into the arena with The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkle blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matt Haminall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rob McCaig!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haminall gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McCaig counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McCaig.

McCaig drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCaig jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

McCaig is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Haminall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McCaig.
Haminall is pressing down on McCaig's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Haminall holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Haminall has his hands on McCaig's head, controlling the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Haminall has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matt Haminall just wasn't active enough.

Haminall changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McCaig looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Haminall's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McCaig throws a nice looking combination but Haminall bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Matt Haminall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Matt Haminall.
