The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Emelianenko darts in and clinches Soendergaard up against the cage.

Soendergaard tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Emelianenko just stands there and leans against the cage.
Soendergaard has Emelianenko pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Emelianenko manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Soendergaard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Emelianenko walks away with a smile on his face. Soendergaard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Emelianenko has Soendergaard pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Soendergaard is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Emelianenko - that's hurt Soendergaard badly! Oh, another knee lands and Soendergaard is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Soendergaard doesn't seem to be complaining.
