PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shane Beast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Loui Te Kuri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beast comes to the cage accompanied by RPS - Pokonując granice feat DJ Teak. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Shane Beast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Loui Te Kuri!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beast swinging wildly here.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Beast checks a leg kick.
Te Kuri throws an off balance right hand
and Beast counters with a two punch combo.
Beast lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Te Kuri circles away quickly and effectively.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beast misses with a combination
and Te Kuri counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Beast thinking.

Beast moves away from the strike by Te Kuri.
Beast avoids the body shot from Te Kuri.
Te Kuri misses the body punch
and Beast counters with a three punch combo that has Te Kuri backing up. Te Kuri nods at Beast to acknowledge the strikes.

and Te Kuri counters with a single leg into guard. Beast didn't expect that.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Te Kuri stops Beast from standing up.
Te Kuri throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Beast works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Te Kuri working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Beast working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Te Kuri.
Te Kuri throwing strikes from guard but Beast blocks nicely.
Te Kuri postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Te Kuri trying to control but Beast is working from the bottom.
Te Kuri might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Beast kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Te Kuri is looking to work some ground and pound but Beast has wrist control.

Te Kuri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Te Kuri missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Te Kuri wants to control from the top but Beast keeps moving.
Te Kuri looking to sit in guard and control but Beast gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Te Kuri is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beast is controlling him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Shane Beast wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Beast takes one to the chin there.


It looks like Shane Beast has been cut.
Beast throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Te Kuri makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Loui Te Kuri dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Shane Beast's cut.
That's time! Beast's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Te Kuri throws a hook but Beast avoids it easily.
Te Kuri throws a lazy uppercut
and Beast counters with a series of strikes. Te Kuri will be more careful next time no doubt.
Te Kuri looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Beast is fending him off so far but Te Kuri persists. Nope, Beast circles away and we're back to standing.

Te Kuri closes this distance looking for a takedown but Beast circles away.
Te Kuri shoots in looking for a takedown but Beast manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Te Kuri's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shane Beast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Loui Te Kuri.
Beast throws a combination that misses

and Te Kuri counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Te Kuri thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Beast to regain full guard.
Te Kuri lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Te Kuri throws and elbow that misses. Beast uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Te Kuri's guard. Nice move by Beast!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beast stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Beast throws a right hand that Te Kuri ducks under and follows up with a left that Te Kuri also avoids with ease.
Beast misses with a combination
and Te Kuri counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Oh Beast is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Te Kuri catches Beast with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Beast forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Loui Te Kuri!
