PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Punchers Chance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Lapointe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chance comes into the arena with Mama said knock u out! blaring out of the sound system. Lapointe has chosen Manowar - Hail & Kill as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Punchers Chance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Lapointe!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapointe comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Chance misses with a takedown attempt
and Lapointe counters with a straight right hand.
Punchers Chance seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lapointe dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chance misses with a takedown
and Lapointe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lapointe uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chance has time to react.
Chance shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lapointe counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Punchers Chance. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A looping hook to the body misses from Lapointe. Chance does a little dance to reset his feet.

Lapointe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Chance throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lapointe escapes and throws Chance's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Chance knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lapointe on the ground.

Chance pushes Lapointe away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lapointe gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lapointe scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Chance to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well Lapointe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
