The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Denardo slips a jab and a cross from Hurtta.
A head kick misses from Denardo.
Denardo shoots for a double leg takedown but Hurtta sprawls well. He's pushed Denardo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Denardo tries to clinch there but Hurtta circles away.
Denardo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Denardo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hurtta as he avoids it easily.
Hurtta looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Denardo is looking to clinch but Hurtta is avoiding it.
Hurtta throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Denardo thows a body kick. Hurtta tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Hurtta closes the distance and clinches.
Hurtta on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Denardo tries to land a knee to the head but Hurtta blocks with his arms.
Hurtta lands a left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hurtta breaks from the clinch.
Denardo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hurtta is fending him off so far but Denardo persists. Nope, Hurtta circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rio Denardo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hurtta takes the fight into the clinch.
Hurtta is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Denardo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

and Hurtta counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Denardo's guard now.
Hurtta must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hurtta tries to free his leg and advance position but Denardo is retaining full guard.

Hurtta is posturing up here but Denardo has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Hurtta tries to roll out but it's too tight and Hurtta has to tap! Slick submission there by Denardo!
