PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Killsbrough (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Chavalo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Killsbrough!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Chavalo!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Killsbrough misses
and Killsbrough takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chavalo lands a jab to the head.
Killsbrough throws a sloppy head kick

and Chavalo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killsbrough won't be happy with that.

Chavalo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Killsbrough has escaped the position, nice work there.
Chavalo cracks Killsbrough with a big right hand but Killsbrough just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chavalo fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Chavalo scores with a couple of short elbows.
Killsbrough wants to control but Chavalo postures up.
Chavalo throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Killsbrough works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Killsbrough knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chavalo on the ground.

Chavalo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Killsbrough knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Chavalo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Chavalo works his way into full mount!

Chavalo working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Chavalo unloads with some shots from mount but Killsbrough bucks and avoids them well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chavalo throwing strikes here but Killsbrough is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Chavalo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Killsbrough is surviving well by controlling Chavalo's body position as best he can.
Poor strikes thrown by Chavalo there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Killsbrough throws a head kick that misses
and Chavalo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Chavalo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Killsbrough looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Chavalo stuns Killsbrough with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Killsbrough takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Chavalo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Chavalo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Chavalo cracks Killsbrough with a big elbow.
Chavalo lands a nice forearm strike.
Chavalo working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Check out the look on Chavalo's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Killsbrough prevents Chavalo from moving into mount.
Chavalo sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Killsbrough is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Chavalo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Killsbrough knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Killsbrough is trying to control Chavalo's posture but Chavalo avoids it.

Chavalo tries for a kimura but Killsbrough is defending well.
The strikes coming from Chavalo are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chavalo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Killsbrough parries the strikes from Chavalo easily there. Chavalo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Killsbrough to escape.
Killsbrough is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Chavalo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Chavalo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Killsbrough is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Chavalo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Killsbrough throws a head kick that misses
and Chavalo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Killsbrough's knee momentarily.
Chavalo throws an overhand right that lands on Killsbrough's shoulder, as Killsbrough tries to avoid the shot.
Killsbrough throws a lazy head kick
and Chavalo counters with a body kick that stops Killsbrough in his tracks momentarily.

Chavalo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Chavalo seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chavalo slips a nice elbow through Killsbrough's hands, connecting with Killsbrough's forehead.
Chavalo wants to free his trapped foot but Killsbrough is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Killsbrough is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tyler Killsbrough has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chavalo is looking for a kimura but Killsbrough is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chavalo to get the leverage.

Chavalo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Killsbrough's head.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chavalo connects with a nice short shot to Killsbrough's temple.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Chavalo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

George Chavalo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Chavalo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
