Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vince Buckner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vince Buckner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Gibson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buckner swivels and escapes.
Buckner looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Gibson rushes Buckner and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Buckner goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Gibson breaks the clinch.
Gibson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gibson is looking to clinch but Buckner is avoiding it.
Gibson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Gibson shoots in for a double leg but Buckner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vince Buckner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Gibson.

and Buckner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gibson's guard.
Gibson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Buckner wants to pass the guard but Gibson is keeping the position.

Gibson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Buckner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gibson holds on and takes a little breather.

Gibson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Buckner missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gibson is looking to stand up but Buckner isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vince Buckner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gibson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Buckner lands an elbow inside that Gibson shrugs off.
Buckner lands a body punch.
Gibson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Buckner is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Gibson.

Gibson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Buckner uses from the top position.
Gibson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Buckner is one step ahead there.

Gibson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Buckner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gibson pushes Buckner off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Gibson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Buckner!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gibson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Gibson winds up and cracks Buckner with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Buckner is looking to escape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gibson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Gibson is keen to just control but Buckner is a slippery customer.
Well, if Gibson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Buckner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Buckner is looking for a sweep. Gibson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gibson clinches but Buckner breaks the clinch

and Buckner counters with a single leg into guard. Gibson didn't expect that.

Buckner tries to free his leg and advance position but Gibson is retaining full guard.
Gibson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Buckner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gibson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Buckner off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Gibson has a takedown stuffed.
Buckner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gibson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Buckner throws a lazy head kick
and Gibson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gibson connects with a high kick.


It looks like Vince Buckner has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gibson tries a head kick but it misses.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Gibson! Buckner is out on his feet! Gibson rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Buckner is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Buckner is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Gibson!
