Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kyle Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shamil Zavurov!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zavurov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Howe swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Zavurov misses with a low kick.
Zavurov throws a leg kick

and Howe counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howe is looking to take a break and control but Zavurov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Zavurov is looking for a sweep.
Zavurov dodges the ground and pound from Howe.
Howe wants to control but Zavurov is keeping him busy.
Zavurov is trying to improve his position.
Check out the look on Howe's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zavurov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Zavurov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Howe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Howe is looking to take a break and control but Zavurov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Howe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Zavurov is pushing Howe's head away, looking to escape. Howe manages to hold on to the position though.
Zavurov tries to buck Howe off but Howe is having none of it.
The ground and pound from Howe seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Zavurov pushes Howe away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Howe gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Howe throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Zavurov wants to control but Howe is having none of it.
Zavurov is looking to improve his position but Howe isn't that keen on the idea.

Howe thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Zavurov is bucking up trying to escape but Howe cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Howe fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Zavurov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zavurov moves in looking to clinch but Howe pushes him off.

and Zavurov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Howe's guard now.

Zavurov is looking to stand up but Howe won't let him.
Zavurov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Shamil Zavurov was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Zavurov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Howe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Zavurov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Howe's guard.

Zavurov drops back looking for a leg! Howe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Howe manages to kick Zavurov off! Zavurov jumps back into Howe's guard.

Zavurov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zavurov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Shamil Zavurov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Zavurov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Howe on his heels. He'll look to pass Howe's guard now, I'm sure.
Zavurov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Zavurov wants to get up but he can't break Howe's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Zavurov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Howe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Shamil Zavurov hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Shamil Zavurov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Zavurov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
