The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shifflett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pummel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shifflett is looking to slow Pummel down with leg kicks.
Pummel throws the left hand but Shifflett avoids the punch easily.

and Pummel counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Pummel dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Pummel steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Shifflett. That one must have hurt.

and Pummel makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Shifflett buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shifflett dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pummel. That did some damage!

and Pummel counters with a three punch combo that has Shifflett backing up. Shifflett nods at Pummel to acknowledge the strikes.

enabling Pummel to counter with a crisp jab.

A jab from Pummel does it's job there.
A punch combination from Pummel misses.
Pummel is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shifflett had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Pummel closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Ray Shifflett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shifflett throws a leg kick but Pummel moved away.

enabling Pummel to counter with a crisp jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shifflett ducks under a wild hook from Pummel.
Shifflett moves in looking to clinch but Pummel pushes him off.

and Pummel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Oh Shifflett is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pummel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Shifflett bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Shifflett seems to have got his legs back now.
Shifflett swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pummel counters with a stiff right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pummel scores with a shot to the body.
Jab, jab by Pummel - just one landing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shifflett throws a combination that misses
and Pummel counters with a nice body shot.
Shifflett throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pummel lands a body shot.
Pummel thuds a left hand into Shifflett's body.
Pummel connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Shifflett looks to clinch
and Pummel counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Pummel closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Shifflett! Pummel dives in looking to finish! Shifflett is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
