PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Hunkman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mayor Hammertown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammertown is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by mama said knock you out. Mayor Hammertown is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mayor Hammertown!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammertown swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Hunkman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hammertown's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammertown wants to sweep here but Hunkman controlling him for the moment.
Hammertown is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hunkman tries to stand but Hammertown is controlling from the bottom.
Hammertown tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hunkman could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hunkman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hammertown works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hammertown manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hammertown looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hammertown lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hammertown takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hammertown can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hunkman is looking to escape.
Hunkman is in all sorts of trouble here.

Hunkman is bucking up trying to escape but Hammertown cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

It looks like Josh Hunkman has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hammertown jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hunkman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hunkman and Hammertown has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Hammertown tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hammertown has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammertown is trying to get an arm triangle but Hunkman is defending well.

Hammertown tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Hunkman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hammertown decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hunkman to his feet.
Hammertown swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hammertown scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Hammertown thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hunkman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hammertown's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hunkman wants to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hammertown connects with a nice short shot to Hunkman's temple.

Hammertown is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hunkman is just riding it out for now. Hammertown eventually gives up the hold.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hammertown is trying to control the action in half guard but Hunkman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hunkman tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Hammertown counters with a takedown into side control.
Hammertown is looking to take a break and control but Hunkman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hammertown has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hammertown lands a jab-cross combination.

Hammertown gets the takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hammertown is putting a hurting on Hunkman here, landing some big shots from side control.
Hunkman tries to buck Hammertown off but Hammertown is having none of it.
Hunkman regains half guard there - taking advantage of Hammertown's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Hunkman wants to control but Hammertown is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hammertown stands up and beckons Hunkman to join him on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hunkman misses with a takedown
and Hammertown counters with a series of strikes. Hunkman will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hunkman throws a sloppy head kick and Hammertown moves out of range easily.
Hunkman takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hammertown lands a two punch combo.
Hammertown lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hammertown scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Hammertown goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hammertown.

Josh Hunkman's cut is getting worse.
Hammertown lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Hammertown lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Hunkman goes down and covers up as Hammertown starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mayor Hammertown!
