The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a good cross that connects.
Silva fakes the leg kick and cracks Ryan in the body.

and Silva counters with a nice uppercut.

Ryan misses with a wild combination.
Ryan takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Silva misses with a low kick as Ryan jumps back.
Ryan cracks Silva with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Silva lands a big uppercut and Ryan crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Ryan looks OK. Silva waves Ryan back to his feet!

Silva throws a head kick but Ryan moves out of range.
Silva dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ryan. That did some damage!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ryan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Silva connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ryan's hands.

Silva pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Brendan Ryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A bone on bone clash there as Ryan blocks the leg kick.
Ryan takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Silva will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Ryan throws a hook to the side of Silva's head but Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Oh Ryan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ryan seems to have got his legs back now.

Silva is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ryan had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Ryan has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Silva.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ryan's head backwards.
A solid leg kick lands there for Silva.
Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Ryan moves out of range easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Silva, right into the meat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Silva lands a big head kick that sends Ryan tumbling to the mat! Silva takes a step backwards and waves Ryan back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Ryan closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ryan moves out of range as Silva throws a body kick.
Silva jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Semi Silva dominated that round.
