PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Longfellow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reis comes to the cage accompanied by Blood Brothers. Longfellow has chosen Dropping Plates as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rodrigo Reis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luke Longfellow!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Reis finds it's way through Longfellow's defenses.

and Reis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rodrigo Reis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Longfellow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Reis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reis wants to control from the top but Longfellow keeps moving.
Longfellow looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reis is one step ahead there.

Reis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Longfellow is just riding it out for now. Reis eventually gives up the hold.

Longfellow isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Reis stacks Longfellow on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Reis!

Longfellow tries to buck Reis off but Reis is having none of it.
Longfellow manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Longfellow shoots in for a takedown but Reis shows good takedown defense.

Longfellow tries to lock up and control but Reis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Reis seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Longfellow is holding on tight.
Longfellow is in all sorts of trouble here.

Reis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Reis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well Reis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
