PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rain Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Jacque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Slice might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Im A Boss. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Jacque!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice lands with a slapping head kick.
Jacque throws a right and a left that both miss.

Slice gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Slice prevents the takedown attempt.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Slice.

Slice gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slice wants to stand but Jacque has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Jacque is trying to get back to full guard.
Jacque is looking to escape.
Jacque has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Slice is working away from the top position though.
Jacque tries to roll over but Slice keeps him under control.

Slice escapes and gets back to his feet.

and Slice decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jacque's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jacque is on top in guard.
Jacque forces his way into half guard.
Jacque thows a huge punch but Slice dodges it nicely.
Jacque wants to pass the guard but Slice is defending well.
Slice wants to get back to his feet.

Jacque looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jacque is keen to just control but Slice is a slippery customer.

Jacque decides to stand and escape the position.
Jacque tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Slice holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jacque has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Slice avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Slice breaks the clinch.
Jacque gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Slice counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Slice.

Slice manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Slice decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jacque, up you get!
Jacque lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jacque closes the distance but Slice moves to the side

and Slice counters by clinching up.
Slice stops a takedown attempt from Jacque.

Slice decides to pull guard.
Jacque trying to control but Slice is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slice is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Slice can't keep his opponent in guard - Jacque advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Donk. Slice catches Jacque right on the button with a cross.
Jacque misses with a takedown attempt - Slice sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Slice has closed the distance and engaged Jacque in a clinch.

Slice manages to break the clinch.
Jacque tries to clinch up but Slice circles away and keeps his distance.
Jacque fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Slice is out of range.
No joy there for Jacque, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jacque wants to get back to full guard.
Slice tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jacque controls his leg.
Jacque wants to improve his position but Slice is controlling well.

Slice is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Jacque manages to get to full guard.

It looks like Rain Slice has been cut.
Jacque throws a left and a right that both miss
and Slice counters with a head kick.
Slice throws a nice inside leg kick.
Slice misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Slice scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Slice knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jacque on the ground.
Jacque tries to improve position but can't.
Jacque bucks up and tries to throw Slice off but instead Slice has got his back!

Slice biding his time, looking for the opening.
Jacque rolls, trying to escape but Slice keeps control of the position.
Slice trying to control momentarily.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Jacque tries to break free.

Rain Slice overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jacque manages to reverse the position and now he's in Slice's guard. Nice work there by Jacque.
Slice is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jacque is controlling him.

Jacque decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Jacque darts in trying to clinch
and Slice makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Jacque doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Slice counters with a low kick, right behind Jacque 's knee.
Jacque throws a leg kick that misses.

Slice fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jacque, pushing him back against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Slice.
Slice is pressed up against the cage. Jacque has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slice down to the mat. Slice avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jacque changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slice tries to avoid it but Jacque manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slice to the ground. Slice escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Slice counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Slice.

Slice has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Jacque to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Slice is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Jacque pulls down on the head and he's put Slice to sleep! This one is all over!
