Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josefski Slabadavski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kumina Sato!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sato uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Slabadavski.
Sato fakes the leg kick and cracks Slabadavski in the body.
Sato throws a hook to the side of Slabadavski's head but Slabadavski sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sato throws a sloppy head kick and Slabadavski moves out of range easily.

and Slabadavski counters with a straight right hand.

and Slabadavski counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Slabadavski counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Slabadavski takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Slabadavski takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Slabadavski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sato avoids it really well and circles away.
Sato with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Slabadavski to score with a decent uppercut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sato is looking to slow Slabadavski down with leg kicks.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sato is looking to clinch but Slabadavski is avoiding it.
Slabadavski tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sato swivels and escapes.

and Sato connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Sato counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Slabadavski!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sato throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Sato postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Slabadavski looks a forlorn figure.

Sato misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Sato moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Slabadavski has worked his arm free - good work by Slabadavski!

Sato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slabadavski keeps working.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sato tries to advance to mount but can't.

Sato goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Slabadavski has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sato but great work by Slabadavski.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sato can't do much from the bottom here.
Sato has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kumina Sato showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Sato shoots in looking for a takedown. Slabadavski tries to sprawl out of it but Sato keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slabadavski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sato lands a nice shot that snaps Slabadavski's head back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sato connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Slabadavski's hands.

Sato doesn't manage to clinch there - Slabadavski circles away.
Good leg kick by Sato there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Sato throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Slabadavski was covering up waiting for the punch and Sato finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sato throws a strike but Slabadavski rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sato controls Slabadavski momentarily but Slabadavski frees himself.

Sato wants to control but Slabadavski is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Slabadavski prevents Sato from improving his position.
Slabadavski works his foot free and advances to mount.
Sato tries to hold on but Slabadavski pushes him away.
Slabadavski is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sato can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kumina Sato has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Slabadavski cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
