The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hode misses with an uppercut
and Alcano counters with a nice uppercut.
Alcano gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hode connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hode throws a hook to the side of Alcano's head but Alcano sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jose Alcano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alcano tries for a takedown but Hode circles away easily
and Hode counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Alcano misses with a takedown attempt
and Hode connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Jose Alcano has been cut.

Hode sneaks out the side door and pushes Alcano away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Hode counters with a stiff right hand.
Hode walks forward, straight into a front kick from Alcano.
Hode scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hode seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alcano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hode wants to pass the guard but Alcano is defending well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Scott Hode has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Hode misses the jab.

and Hode connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Alcano tries for a takedown but Hode circles away easily
and Hode counters with a takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hode has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Alcano is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hode yanks on the arm and Alcano is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hode.
