Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeganathan Mondero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Ricard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Ricard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeganathan Mondero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Ricard!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mondero has Ricard up against the cage in a clinch.
Ricard is looking to break free of the clinch but Mondero has double underhooks.
Mondero keeps control of Ricard as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Ricard looking for a takedown.

Mondero breaks from the clinch.
Mondero closes the distance and clinches up with Ricard, looking for a takedown. Mondero pushes Ricard against the cage but Ricard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mondero avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ricard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mondero's waist but Mondero gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ricard off to one side.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mondero.
Mondero scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ricard to see if he's OK.
Mondero slows the pace down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ricard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mondero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mondero is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ricard has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mondero works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Mondero decides to stand back up. Mondero steps back and let's Ricard get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from Ricard.

Ricard moves into the clinch successfully.

Mondero has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ricard is trying to keep an underhook but Mondero manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ricard is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Mondero pulls his head out easily.
Ricard is looking to escape.
Ricard is in trouble now - Mondero has advanced to mount!
Ricard tries to hold on but Mondero pushes him away.
Mondero unloading with bombs!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mondero stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Mondero will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mondero has Ricard up against the cage in a clinch.
Ricard changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mondero fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jeganathan Mondero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Ricard.

Ricard fails with the takedown

and Mondero counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ricard looks gassed!
Mondero has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mondero controlling his opponent.
Mondero in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mondero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mondero lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Mondero lands a heavy elbow.


Ricard is rocked!
Mondero postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Ricard badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Mondero around the waist but Mondero pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Mondero is the winner by TKO! Mondero jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeganathan Mondero!
