The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Bobryk misses

and McIanson counters with a shoot takedown. Bobryk fights it but they end up in guard.
McIanson won't allow Bobryk to get back to his feet.
McIanson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bobryk wants to sweep here but McIanson controlling him for the moment.

Bobryk has his foot on McIanson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McIanson works his way back into a safe position though.

McIanson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bobryk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McIanson has managed to get both his arms back between Bobryk's legs - danger averted.
Bobryk has control of McIanson's left arm, preventing McIanson from doing any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bobryk tries to kick McIanson off but McIanson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
McIanson is thwarting Bobryk's attempts to control the position.

McIanson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McIanson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Bobryk fails with the takedown

so McIanson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Bobryk working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because McIanson has passed into half guard!

McIanson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bobryk on the ground.

Bobryk has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

and McIanson counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bobryk gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McIanson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bobryk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McIanson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McIanson is controlling the pace.

Bobryk wants to control but McIanson is keeping busy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bobryk wants to control but McIanson passes into side.

McIanson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bobryk keeps working.
Ian McIanson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bobryk is looking to regain half guard here but McIanson keeps moving and retains side control.

McIanson is looking to take a break and control but Bobryk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

and McIanson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McIanson.
Bobryk wants to stand but McIanson is controlling the position.
Bobryk controls McIanson momentarily but McIanson frees himself.
Bobryk has McIanson pulled in close to control his posture.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bobryk throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McIanson escapes and throws Bobryk's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Well McIanson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
