Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kelley Public (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Public comes into the arena with Turagsoy blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Public throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily.
A clash of legs there as Public blocks the low kick.
Alves throws a left and a right that both miss
and Public counters with a nice uppercut.
Public cracks Alves with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Public throws a lazy head kick
and Alves counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Alves.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves throws a big right hand that misses.
Public will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Public throws a head kick but Alves moves out of range.
Marcelo Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alves throws a low kick but it's checked well by Public.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alves feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Publics jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Public throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kelley Public is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alves thows a body shot but no joy.
Public gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Alves controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Alves counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Public thinking.
Alves gets a takedown into half guard.
Public is trying to get back to full guard.
Alves is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Public is in a horrible position here. Alves smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves with a couple of short strikes.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Public is wriggling around trying to escape.
Public holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Alves tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Poor strikes thrown by Alves there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Alves throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Public working to try and regain half guard.
Alves has control of Public's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Public regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Public is in a horrible position here. Alves smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Alves looking to ground and pound but Public is blocking nicely.
Public is wriggling around trying to escape.
Alves has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Alves throwing strikes here but Public is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Alves lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Alves cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Public is looking to improve his position but Alves isn't that keen on the idea.
Alves throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Public because Alves loaded up on that one.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alves scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Alves is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Public to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Public shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
BOOM! Alves connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Public is in all sorts of trouble here.

Alves lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Public! Alves sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Public and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
