The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornell misses with a body shot

and Joshua counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cornell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Joshua postures up.
Joshua wants to control from the top but Cornell keeps moving.
Joshua is stalling in the full guard.
Cornell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cornell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Joshua counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cornell won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Joshua wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cornell keeps working.

Joshua goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cornell rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Joshua's guard! Nice work there by Cornell!
Joshua wants to sweep here but Cornell controlling him for the moment.
Joshua has his hands on Cornell's head, controlling the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Anthony Joshua.
Joshua tries to clinch but Cornell is having none of it.
Joshua throws a hook to the side of Cornell's head but Cornell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Cornell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Joshua manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Joshua shoots in and bounces Cornell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Joshua tries to free his leg and advance position but Cornell is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cornell tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Joshua wants to control from the top but Cornell keeps moving.
Cornell is trying to keep Joshua in close.

Joshua gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Joshua shoots in looking for a takedown. Cornell tries to sprawl out of it but Joshua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cornell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Joshua gets to his feet. Cornell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Joshua closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Joshua lands in his opponent's guard.
Joshua slips nicely into half guard.
Joshua perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Joshua passes to side control.

Joshua controls the position.

Joshua has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Cornell is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Joshua yanks on the arm and Cornell is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Joshua.
