PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luki Puki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Corvia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corvia has chosen Al Kapone - You ain't stoppin me as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luki Puki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Corvia!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corvia doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Puki counter with a right hand.

Corvia darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Corvia wants to free his trapped foot but Puki is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Puki trying to control here.
Well, if Corvia is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Puki is trying to control but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Puki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Corvia counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Corvia trying to pass the guard but Puki defending well.
Puki wants to get back to full guard.
Puki is looking to control Corvia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Puki avoid being mounted?

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sean Corvia was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Puki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Corvia won't be happy with that.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Corvia prevents Puki from improving position.
Corvia is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Puki has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Corvia is looking to get back to his feet here but Puki is keeping cool and he's managed to take Corvia's back.
Corvia prevents Puki from getting a body triangle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Corvia is keeping busy.
Corvia trying to get back to his feet but Puki is in full control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sean Corvia will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Corvia shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Corvia prevents Puki from getting the reversal.
Corvia controlling from the full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sean Corvia wasn't active enough on the ground.

Corvia scores with a takedown into Puki's guard.
Corvia is breathing heavily.
Puki is trying to control the position but Corvia postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Corvia sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Puki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Corvia's guard.
Puki wants to get up but he can't break Corvia's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Luki Puki wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Puki is looking to clinch but Corvia is avoiding it.
Corvia shoots in for a takedown but Puki shows good takedown defense.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Puki scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Puki shoots and misses

and Corvia counters with a single leg into guard. Puki didn't expect that.
Corvia wants to control from the top but Puki keeps moving.
Corvia pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Puki is keeping the position for now.
Corvia slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Puki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Corvia!

Puki controlling from the full mount.

Puki goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Corvia turns into him and now he's in Puki's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Corvia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Puki shoots and misses

Corvia controls the position from side control.
Corvia passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Puki!
Corvia avoids the attempt from Puki to control.
Corvia content just to control the position here.
Puki regains half guard.

Puki won't allow Corvia to pass to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Corvia slows the pace down in half guard.
Puki trying to hold on to Corvia's head to control him but Corvia postures up.
Corvia looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Puki is looking to control Corvia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Puki avoid being mounted?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Corvia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puki pinned against the cage. Puki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Corvia fails with the takedown
and Puki counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Corvia is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Puki closes the distance and clinches up with Corvia, looking for a takedown. Puki pushes Corvia against the cage but Corvia circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Puki trying to control but Corvia is working from the bottom.

Corvia pushes Puki off and gets back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Corvia circles away from the clinch attempt.
Corvia has a takedown stuffed.
Luki Puki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Corvia.

Puki drives through with a takedown into guard.
Puki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Corvia swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Puki lands a couple of elbows.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Puki wants to stand but Corvia is controlling his posture from full guard.

Corvia uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Luki Puki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Corvia shoots in and gets a takedown into Puki's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sean Corvia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Corvia winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
