PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyron Woodlley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willamy Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Willamy Silva!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodlley shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silva sprawls well. Silva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Woodlley gets slowly back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Woodlley.

Woodlley drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Woodlley wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position.
Woodlley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Woodlley gets to his feet. Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Woodlley which made him look bad.
Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Woodlley but Woodlley pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tyron Woodlley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willamy Silva.
Silva looks for a takedown but Woodlley sprawls well.
Silva dives in and grabs Woodlley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Woodlley pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Woodlley enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Woodlley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Woodlley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has Woodlley in his guard.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Woodlley gets to his feet - Silva follows without any prompting.

Silva jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Woodlley is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Woodlley and Silva has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Woodlley is pushing Silva's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though.

Silva swings around for an armbar but Woodlley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Silva's guard.
Woodlley wants to get up but he can't break Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Silva is working an open guard so Woodlley takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Woodlley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.
Woodlley looks for a takedown but Silva sprawls well.
Silva fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Woodlley as he avoids it easily.

Silva gets caught napping as Woodlley dives in and scores a takedown. Silva manages to retain guard.
Woodlley wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Woodlley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tyron Woodlley will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Woodlley fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Silva sprawls well initially but Woodlley persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Woodlley stands up and beckons Silva to join him on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Woodlley. Oh but Silva has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Woodlley goes limp - he's gone! Silva jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
