PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Bob Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Myron Obusan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Obusan's choice of entrance music: Frontlines by Diabolic feat. Immortal Technique. On his way into the cage it seems that Jim Bob Silva has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jim Bob Silva seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Obusan misses
and Silva counters with a nice low kick that buckles Obusan's knee momentarily.
Obusan misses with a hook
and Silva counters with a thumping low kick.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Silva is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Obusan is surviving well by controlling Silva's body position as best he can.

Silva wants to finish this one by submission but Obusan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Silva.
Silva tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Obusan for as long as he can get away with.

Silva working for a submission but Obusan is keeping him at bay.
Obusan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Silva is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Obusan has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Obusan!
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Obusan is one step ahead there.
Obusan wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Obusan can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Silva controlling the action here.

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Obusan still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Obusan has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Silva sneaks back into half guard.

Obusan wants to stand up but Silva manages to regain full guard.
Silva looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Silva has control of Obusan's left arm, preventing Obusan from doing any damage.
Silva manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Silva controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Silva looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A low kick from Obusan misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Obusan throws a combination that misses
and Silva finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Silva dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Obusan. That did some damage!

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into side control. Obusan won't be happy with that.
Silva takes a little break here. Obusan wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Obusan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Silva moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Silva works to advance to full mount. Obusan defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Silva content just to control the position here.
Silva works his way to his opponent's back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Obusan looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Obusan is breathing heavily.

Silva is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Silva is looking for the choke from the back position but Obusan is controlling his hands well.
Obusan avoids the strikes from Silva.

Silva has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Obusan is defending well but eventually Silva manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Obusan has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
