PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Maine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Maine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Marsh!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maine lets loose with a powerful body kick. Marsh will feel that in the morning.
Marsh throws a body punch but Maine moves out of range.
Marsh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maine's waist but Maine gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marsh off to one side.
Marsh dips to his left and cracks Maine with an uppercut!
Marsh scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Maine doesn't seem bothered though.
Marsh throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Maine avoids the body shot from Marsh.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maine pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Maine avoids the body shot from Marsh.
Marsh lands a body shot.
Maine takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Marsh wants to clinch up but Maine keeps it at a distance.
Marsh is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Maine rather than just go for the knockout.
Maine takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Maine looks to land a body kick but Marsh moved away.

Marsh misses with a lunging right hand

and Maine counters with a flying knee that sends his opponent to the canvas! Maine looking to finish!


Marsh is rocked!

Marsh is looking for a triangle here but Maine uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Marsh is still in real trouble! Can Maine finish him?
Marsh tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Marsh seems to have recovered his senses.
Marsh is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Maine is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Marsh tries to reverse the position but Maine maintains control.
Marsh tries to hold on but Maine postures up.
Maine prevents Marsh from getting the reversal.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Maine avoids the attempt from Marsh to control.
Maine wants to control the pace but Marsh is squirming around nicely.
Maine controlling from mount.
Maine trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Marsh steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Maine. That one must have hurt.
Marsh jabs at Maine's body.
Marsh shoots in but no luck this time.
Marsh fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marsh shoots in and drives through. Maine sprawls well.
Christopher Maine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Marsh.

Marsh blocks a head kick by Maine.
Randy Marsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marsh scores with a one two! Maine had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Maine will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Maine looks to land a body kick but Marsh moved away.
Maine stuffs the takedown attempt from Marsh. Marsh gets slowly back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maine throws a half hearted mid kick.
Marsh scores with a nice strike.
Marsh scores with a decent looking hook.
Marsh getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Marsh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Marsh is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Marsh throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Marsh not doing much here.
Maine trying to hold on to Marsh's head to control him but Marsh postures up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Marsh is keen to just control but Maine is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marsh not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Marsh missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Marsh seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Maine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Marsh not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Randy Marsh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Marsh tests Maine's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Maine circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maine blocks a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marsh scores with a shot to the body.
Marsh takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Horrible takedown by Marsh or perhaps it was just good defense by Maine which made him look bad.
Marsh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maine's waist but Maine gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marsh off to one side.
Marsh throws a jab when Maine was well out of range.
Marsh misses with a wild body shot.
Maine drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Marsh tries to close the distance and clinch but Maine swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Marsh fails with an attempt to clinch.
Maine throws a sloppy head kick and Marsh moves out of range easily.
Marsh moves out of range of the body kick from Maine.
Marsh is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Maine swats away the attempt to clinch by Marsh.

Marsh looks to land a right hand but Maine moved out of range.
Marsh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Maine pinned against the cage. Maine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Christopher Maine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Marsh.
Marsh checks the leg kick nicely there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Maine is trying to keep Marsh in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Randy Marsh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Marsh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
