And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanseeni tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruuti swivels and escapes.

Hanseeni shoots in and bounces Ruuti off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hanseeni might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ruuti looking for a guillotine here but Hanseeni defends easily.

Hanseeni slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ruuti is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hanseeni keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ruuti fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A head kick misses from Ruuti.
Hanseeni lands with a nice combination. Ruuti backs away looking to recover.

Ruuti is pushing down on Hanseeni's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hanseeni is fighting to maintain full guard but Ruuti has managed to sneak the leg through.

Hanseeni is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Hanseeni wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ruuti has him pressed against the cage.

Ruuti drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hanseeni pulls his leg out and moves away.

Hanseeni is positioning himself well to prevent Ruuti advancing to mount.
Ruuti prevents Hanseeni from improving his position.
Hanseeni trying to hold on to Ruuti's head to control him but Ruuti postures up.
Hanseeni pushes Ruuti off looking to stand but Ruuti dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hanseeni is looking to get back to is feet but Ruuti passes into side control.
Hanseeni manages to get back to half guard.
Hanseeni moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ruuti with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Ruuti tries to free his leg and advance position but Hanseeni is retaining full guard.
Hanseeni wants to improve his position but instead Ruuti has moved into half guard.
Ruuti seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hanseeni does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ruuti thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hanseeni to regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kim Ruuti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Hanseeni moves in looking to clinch but Ruuti pushes him off.
Hanseeni will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ruuti wants to land a leg kick but Hanseeni is out of range.
Hanseeni tries for a takedown but Ruuti sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ruuti is squirming around, avoiding Hanseeni's attempts to control the action.
Hanseeni with shots to the head and body - Ruuti looks very uncomfortable down there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ruuti looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Hanseeni is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ruuti has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Ruuti turns into Hanseeni and is now in his guard.
Ruuti is in close to Hanseeni's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hanseeni manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ruuti is bucking up trying to escape but Hanseeni cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Hanseeni takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hanseeni has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ruuti takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Hanseeni goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ruuti is on top in guard.

Ruuti looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hanseeni with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ruuti stands and throws Hanseeni's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joakim Hanseeni.
I think Hanseeni has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
