PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Kick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Koch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kick comes to the cage accompanied by M.O.P. - Ante Up. The crowd seem to be enjoying Koch's choice of entrance music: Volbeat - A Warriors Call. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Koch!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kick fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Koch looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kick dodges the punch combination from Koch.

and Kick counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Koch lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Koch throws a hook but Kick avoids it easily.
Kick misses with a looping right.
Koch drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Kick counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Kick takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kick throws a nice looking combination but Koch bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Koch is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kick's half guard.

Koch postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kick looks a forlorn figure.

Koch has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kick's face.

Kick takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Kick doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Kick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Koch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Kick counter with a right hand.
Koch takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Koch lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kick is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Kick leaves Koch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Michael Koch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kick is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Koch looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kick is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Michael Koch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Koch has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
