Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pj Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn comes into the arena with BJ Penn Theme blaring out of the sound system. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pj Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Silva!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva tries to sprawl but Quinn drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Quinn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Silva trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Quinn manages to pass to mount!
Silva flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Quinn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Silva is wriggling around trying to escape.
Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Quinn moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Silva has worked his arm free - good work by Silva!
Quinn trying to control the action but Silva is working from the bottom.

Quinn happy to just control the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quinn wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Silva regains half guard.
Silva flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Quinn works his foot free and advances to mount.
Silva is looking to get to half guard.
Quinn tries to control but Silva wriggling away.
Silva can't escape the position.

Quinn sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Quinn seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Silva is holding on tight.

Quinn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Quinn is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Pj Quinn wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Quinn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Silva to the mat! Silva manages to get full guard.

Pj Quinn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Quinn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Quinn counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
Quinn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Quinn is working hard here to advance position.
Silva controls Quinn momentarily but Quinn frees himself.

Quinn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Silva is trying to hold Quinn in close to prevent damage but Quinn has managed to pass into half guard.
Silva flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Quinn is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.

Quinn is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Silva has managed to free his arm - good work.

Quinn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jose Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Quinn feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Quinn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Quinn drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Quinn off! Quinn jumps back into Silva's guard.
Silva doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Quinn tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.

Jose Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Quinn defends well.

Well Quinn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
