The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Rhodes misses its intended target.

Rhodes has Copeland pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Copeland manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rhodes creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Copeland has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rhodes avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Copeland slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Copeland passes Rhodes's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rhodes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Copeland. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Copeland thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rhodes's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Copeland looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Adam Copeland just wasn't active enough.
Rhodes tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Copeland counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Copeland is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Copeland throws a strike but Rhodes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Copeland is on top in guard.

Copeland can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rhodes is looking to escape.

Copeland working for a guillotine from mount but Rhodes is in no mood to give up.

Copeland manages to capitalize on a mistake by Rhodes to take his back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Copeland's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Copeland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
