Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franklyn Vass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoss Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoss Rollins looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklyn Vass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hoss Rollins!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vass moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Rollins looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Rollins tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Vass decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rollins's guard.
Vass trying to control the position from guard on top but Rollins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vass is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rollins is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Vass passes into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vass in particular looking to stall.
Vass knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rollins on the ground.
Vass is trying to control. Rollins wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Vass is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rollins is just riding it out for now. Vass eventually gives up the hold.
Vass is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vass is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vass is keen to just control but Rollins is a slippery customer.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vass decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Vass clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Vass breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vass closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rollins's guard.

Vass passes Rollins's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Vass is keen to just control but Rollins is a slippery customer.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vass connects with a nice short shot to Rollins's temple.

Vass passes to side control.

Vass decides to stand back up. Vass steps back and let's Rollins get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Vass gets a takedown into half guard.
Vass is trying to control the action in half guard but Rollins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Vass could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Well, if Vass is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rollins has hold of Vass's hands but Vass slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Still in half guard, Vass seems content to control.
Rollins is breathing heavily.

Vass seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rollins for as long as he can get away with.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Franklyn Vass just wasn't active enough.
Vass scores with a jab to the jaw.
Rollins blocks a head kick by Vass.
A head kick from Vass lands but Rollins takes it in his stride.
Hoss Rollins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rollins tries to keep at a distance but Vass has taken the fight into the clinch.
Vass tries for a takedown. No joy.
Vass taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Vass has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rollins uses from the top position.
Rollins is looking to stand up but Vass won't let him.
Vass has his hands on Rollins's head, controlling the position.
Vass controls Rollins momentarily but Rollins frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Franklyn Vass wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Rollins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Vass shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Vass passes Rollins's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vass seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rollins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vass scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rollins to see if he's OK.

Vass decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rollins to his feet.

Vass closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rollins to the mat! Rollins manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franklyn Vass dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Rollins has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Vass.
Vass closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rollins circles away.

Vass has Rollins up against the cage in a clinch.

Vass's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Vass drives through and clinches with Rollins against the cage.
Rollins wants to break free but Vass has control.

Vass pulls guard effortlessly.
Rollins preventing the sweep.

Vass is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Vass trying to keep a closed guard but Rollins is proving a slippery customer.
Rollins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vass works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rollins trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Vass looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rollins is one step ahead there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vass not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Franklyn Vass overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rollins working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rollins postures up in Vass's guard and throws a big left but Vass blocks it.

Vass has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rollins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rollins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Vass is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Vass has his feet on Rollins's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Rollins tries to clinch but Vass moves away

and Vass counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Vass's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Vass tries for a takedown but Rollins manages to get underhooks.
Rollins tries to circle away but Vass has him pinned against the cage.

Vass pulls guard successfully.

Rollins wants to stand but Vass has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rollins tries to free his leg and advance position but Vass is retaining full guard.

Rollins is looking to stand up but Vass won't let him.
Rollins throwing strikes from guard but Vass blocks nicely.
Rollins wants to get up but he can't break Vass's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Vass is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rollins won't allow Vass to sweep him here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rollins wants to stand but Vass has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Vass bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Vass trying to control the position but Rollins is working away.
Vass working the ground and pound.
Hoss Rollins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rollins is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Vass asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vass stands up and beckons Rollins to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Franklyn Vass showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Vass has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
