PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stanley Ipkis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Fredriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fredriksson has chosen Shurik'n - Samourai as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stanley Ipkis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Fredriksson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fredriksson misses with a combination
and Ipkis counters with a three punch combo that has Fredriksson backing up. Fredriksson nods at Ipkis to acknowledge the strikes.

Fredriksson scores with a takedown into Ipkis's guard.
Ipkis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fredriksson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ipkis is trying to keep Fredriksson in close.
Ipkis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fredriksson is controlling him.

Ipkis manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Ipkis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fredriksson controls Ipkis momentarily but Ipkis frees himself.
Ipkis trying to stand up but can't free himself from Fredriksson's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fredriksson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ipkis is looking to work some ground and pound but Fredriksson has wrist control.
Ipkis thows a big elbow that misses.
Ipkis looking to sit in guard and control but Fredriksson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ipkis being controlled here, momentarily.
Fredriksson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ipkis is keeping the position for now.
Fredriksson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ipkis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fredriksson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ipkis looking for a sweep. Not yet Ipkis, not yet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lucas Fredriksson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Fredriksson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ipkis.

Fredriksson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ipkis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fredriksson trying to control but Ipkis is working from the bottom.
Ipkis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Fredriksson is controlling him.

Fredriksson stands up from Ipkis's guard - Fredriksson perhaps looking for a knockout.
Fredriksson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fredriksson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ipkis misses with a series of wild punches.

Fredriksson drives through and clinches with Ipkis against the cage.

Ipkis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ipkis shoots in and gets a takedown into Fredriksson's guard.
Ipkis trying to control but Fredriksson is working from the bottom.
Ipkis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ipkis is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Fredriksson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ipkis is looking to defend but Fredriksson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ipkis! Fredriksson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ipkis taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Lucas Fredriksson!
