Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hector Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Day Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moreno comes to the cage accompanied by where is the love. Man has chosen Dayman Remix as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Day Man!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moreno fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Man sprawls well initially but Moreno persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Moreno scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Man avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Moreno.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Moreno lands a nice short elbow.
Moreno not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Man is looking for a sweep. Moreno is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Man keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Man is looking to improve his position.
Moreno missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Man is staying active underneath Moreno, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Moreno is nestled in close to Man, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Man really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moreno. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Moreno is keen to just control but Man is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Man is trying to control but can't.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moreno has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Moreno wants to pass to mount but Man is defending the position.
Man is not content to let Moreno control the position.
Moreno looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Man with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moreno works his way into side control.
Man is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Moreno looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Man is avoiding damage well.

Moreno wants to control but Man is keeping him busy.
Moreno lands a few punches from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Man can do anything to dispel that myth.

Moreno is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Man has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Moreno fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Man looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Moreno, as that shot connected.
Man connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Moreno misses with an uppercut. Man saw that one coming.
Moreno just misses with a punch to the body.
Moreno tries to clinch up
and Man counters with a head kick.

Moreno connects with a looping right hand.

Moreno closes the distance and clinches.
Moreno lands a right hand.
Man is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Moreno is keeping busy.
Man with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Moreno lands a body punch in the clinch.

Man is breathing heavily.
Moreno throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Man bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Nice uppercut there from Moreno.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Man.
Man tries to land a front kick but Moreno steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Man throws a head kick that misses
and Moreno counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Man throws out a leg kick but Moreno moves out of range and Man only half commits.
Moreno shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Man as he avoids it easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Moreno crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Man - the referee stops the clock and Moreno gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Man. Moreno manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Moreno shoots in for a double leg but Man sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Man thumps Moreno with a low kick.
Moreno thows a leg kick but Man checks it
and Man counters with a nice kick to the body.

Man throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Moreno misses with a takedown attempt - Man sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
