The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Wapner blocks the leg kick.

Wapner has taken the fight to the clinch.
Cortez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wapner walks away with a smile on his face. Cortez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Wapner is looking to clinch.

Wapner gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cortez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wapner lands with a right to the head.
Cortez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Cortez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cortez tries to pull guard but Wapner holds him up against the cage and eventually Cortez drops back down to his feet.

Cortez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wapner was well out of range. Poor timing from Cortez.
Cortez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Cortez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
