The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lombard ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gortez moves away.
Lombard scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Gortez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Gortez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lombard is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gortez asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Gortez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lombard!
Lombard is trying to escape the mount.
Gortez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Gortez fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Gortez looking to secure an arm triangle but Lombard defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lombard is trying to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lombard is in a horrible position here. Gortez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Lombard really wants to buck Gortez off and get back to his feet.
Lombard is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Gortez wants to finish this one by submission but Lombard is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gortez.
Lombard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gortez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gortez wants to control the pace but Lombard is squirming around nicely.
Lombard wants to try and get back to his feet.
Lombard looks gassed!
