The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Why misses with a takedown
and Pembelton counters with a shoot takedown. Why fights it but they end up in guard.
Pembelton wants to control from the top but Why keeps moving.
Pembelton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pembelton connects with a couple of short punches.
Why tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Why is looking for a triangle but Pembelton pushes his legs off easily.
Pembelton is looking to work some ground and pound but Why has wrist control.
Why trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Pembelton throws and elbow that misses. Why uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pembelton's guard. Nice move by Why!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Why sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Pembelton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Why stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pembelton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Why is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Pembelton pulls Why in close to prevent any damage.
Why stands and throws Pembelton's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Why taking a break here but Pembelton is having none of it and regains half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Why seems to be working for a kimura but Pembelton defends the submission attempt.
Why prevents Pembelton from standing back up.
Why takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Why seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Pembelton is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
