PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Hurley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skeeter Gator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hurley comes to the cage accompanied by Fools Gold. Gator is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Drop it Like its Hot. Skeeter Gator told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Skeeter Gator!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hurley shoots in and bounces Gator off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gator is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hurley is aware though and is defending well.

Hurley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hurley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gator looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hurley has picked Gator up and slammed him! Gator can't keep hold of the triangle and Hurley manages to pass to side control!

Hurley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hurley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gator is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hurley pulls his head out easily.

Hurley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gator does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hurley wants to take a breather but Gator is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hurley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gator defends it well.
Gator is staying active underneath Hurley, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hurley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gator keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Paul Hurley wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Hurley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hurley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hurley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gator can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gator is squirming around, avoiding Hurley's attempts to control the action.
Hurley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hurley takes Gator's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Gator is in trouble.

Hurley is looking for the choke from the back position but Gator is controlling his hands well.
Hurley has the hooks in. Gator is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Gator defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hurley's arms.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hurley tries to get the hooks in deep but Gator pushed the leg off.

Hurley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gator is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Hurley is taking a breather. Gator says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hurley is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gator has managed to free his arm - good work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gator has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hurley. Oh but Gator has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hurley goes limp - he's gone! Gator jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Skeeter Gator!
