Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Barrows!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Max Lazarev!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lazarev has a takedown stuffed.

so Lazarev counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Barrows looking for a sweep. Not yet Barrows, not yet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Barrows knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lazarev on the ground.
Lazarev throws a big right hand that misses.
Barrows has momentary wrist control but Lazarev slips an elbow through the middle.
Barrows wants to sweep here but Lazarev controlling him for the moment.
Lazarev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Barrows wants to stand and escape but Lazarev is having none of it.
Lazarev content to stall in guard here.
Barrows is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tom Barrows wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Lazarev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Barrows can pounce on him.
Tom Barrows seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barrows forces Lazarev back against the cage and clinches.
Lazarev keeps control of Barrows as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Barrows ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Barrows no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Barrows looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lazarev is one step ahead there.
Barrows wants to stand up but Lazarev is controlling him.

That's time! Barrows's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Barrows lands a jab-cross combination.
Lazarev shoots in for a double leg but Barrows sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Barrows shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lazarev eats them both and turns towards Barrows to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Barrows lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Barrows connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Barrows fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Barrows stalks Lazarev and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lazarev's face. Lazarev staggers backwards, shaken.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barrows throws a right and a left that both miss.
Barrows lands a jab-cross combination.

Barrows moves into range and clinches up with Lazarev.

Lazarev tries for a takedown but Barrows manages to get underhooks.
Barrows is trying to break the clinch but Lazarev has him pressed against the cage.

Lazarev wants to control from the top but Barrows keeps moving.
Lazarev postures up and lands a big shot to Barrows's brow.
Lazarev won't allow Barrows to get back to his feet.
Lazarev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Max Lazarev hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Barrows throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Tom Barrows has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Lazarev.

Barrows gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lazarev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barrows is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Barrows's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Lazarev is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Barrows pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Barrows on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barrows tries to get out of the position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Barrows throws a right and a left that Lazarev avoids nicely.

Lazarev is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lazarev wants to free his trapped foot but Barrows is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Barrows is looking to escape.
Lazarev thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Barrows's head.

Lazarev is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The referee warns Barrows that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Lazarev goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Barrows is on top in guard.
Lazarev lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Barrows!

Barrows avoids a series of strikes thrown by Lazarev.
Lazarev blocks Barrows's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Barrows holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lazarev tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Lazarev misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Lazarev throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Barrows bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Lazarev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Max Lazarev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lazarev has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
