The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem tries a head kick but it misses.

Vucko lands a left and a right that send Overeem crashing to the mat, dazed. Vucko thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Jelle Overeem has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Overeem.

and Overeem cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Vucko counters with a crisp one two that drops Overeem! Vucko thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Overeem to his feet! Overeem is in big trouble!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vucko can do anything to dispel that myth.

Overeem fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vucko looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Overeem bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Overeem is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vucko's shoulder. That is not cool.

Overeem throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Vucko tries to escape but Overeem is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A lull in the action here as Overeem stalls from top position.
Overeem has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vucko gets tackled into the cage by Overeem. Overeem maintains the clinch.

Vucko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Overeem manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vucko has Overeem in his guard.

Overeem is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Overeem seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
