Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauricio Alves!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Alves. Ramos does a little dance to reset his feet.
Alves uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ramos.
Alves comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Ramos scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Alves takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Alves manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ramos's best efforts.

Still in half guard, Ramos seems content to control.
Ramos stops Alves from getting back to his feet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ramos in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Ramos wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ramos slips under a jab from Alves.
Ramos looks to score with a jab to the body but Alves is just out of range.
No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alves throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ramos sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ramos ducks under a wild hook from Alves.
Ramos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Alves tries to sprawl but Ramos drives through with a takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ramos connects with a nice short shot to Alves's temple.
Ramos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Mark Ramos has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Ramos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Ramos content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Ramos's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Mark Ramos wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ramos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alves is trying desperately to improve position.
BOOM! Ramos connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ramos lands a heavy elbow.
Ramos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ramos pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Ramos sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Ramos dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Alves throws a lazy right hand but Ramos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Alves swings for the body but Ramos moves out of range.
Alves throws a hook to the side of Ramos's head but Ramos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Ramos takes a swing at Alves's ribcage but misses.

Ramos throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alves tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ramos is in Alves's guard.
Alves is looking to stand up but Ramos isn't so interested in that idea.
Ramos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ramos postures up in Alves's guard and throws a big left but Alves blocks it.
Ramos slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramos is controlling the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mark Ramos just wasn't active enough.
Alves looks to land a left hand but Ramos moved out of range nicely.

Ramos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Alves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ramos is staying tight to Alves's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Alves wants to control but Ramos postures up.
The referee asks Ramos politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ramos prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ramos moves into full mount!
Mark Ramos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Alves is in a horrible position here. Ramos smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ramos won't let Alves get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ramos cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Alves tries to buck Ramos off but he can't manage it.
Alves is breathing heavily.
Alves takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Ramos tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ramos is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Alves can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Alves is rocked!


It looks like Mauricio Alves has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A big strike lands for Ramos! That's really hurt Alves and he's turned his back - Ramos keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Ramos jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Ramos!
