Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donald Akers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike McSlaughter jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McSlaughter jr is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by goodnite sweetheart. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donald Akers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike McSlaughter jr!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McSlaughter jr slips a jab and a cross from Akers.
Akers throws a head kick that misses.
McSlaughter jr connects with a good right hand that stumbles Akers. Akers circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McSlaughter jr falls off balance throwing a combination
and Akers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Akers looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
McSlaughter jr looks to land a combination but Akers avoids it well.
Mike McSlaughter jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McSlaughter jr lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Akers chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McSlaughter jr can pounce on him.
McSlaughter jr throws a nice looking combination but Akers bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Donk. McSlaughter jr catches Akers right on the button with a cross.
McSlaughter jr thuds his right hand into Akers's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Akers on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Akers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McSlaughter jr circles away quickly and effectively.
McSlaughter jr scores with a jab to the body.
Akers is breathing heavily.
Akers showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McSlaughter jr.
McSlaughter jr thumps Akers with a low kick.
McSlaughter jr scores with a leg kick.
McSlaughter jr throws a quick inside leg kick.
Akers takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Donald Akers has been cut.
McSlaughter jr scores with a hook to the body. Akers takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Akers walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

McSlaughter jr drops Akers with a left right combo! McSlaughter jr follows him down to the ground into side control.


Akers is rocked!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McSlaughter jr staying calm.
Oh Akers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McSlaughter jr decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Akers seems to have got his legs back now.
A nice leg kick lands there from McSlaughter jr.
McSlaughter jr throws a right and a left that Akers avoids nicely.
McSlaughter jr lands with an uppercut that bounces Akers off the cage and back into rage.
McSlaughter jr lands a jab to the nose.
Sloppy strikes from Akers. Those never looked like landing.
McSlaughter jr lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McSlaughter jr scores with a decent looking hook.
McSlaughter jr connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

McSlaughter jr bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Akers! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
McSlaughter jr sitting in guard, not really doing much.

McSlaughter jr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McSlaughter jr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McSlaughter jr controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McSlaughter jr trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Akers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McSlaughter jr stays in close to Akers's body and controls the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
McSlaughter jr works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Well, if McSlaughter jr is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

McSlaughter jr decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McSlaughter jr misses with a two punch combination.
McSlaughter jr bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Akers's head.

McSlaughter jr drops Akers with a right and a left! McSlaughter jr comes rushing in but Akers regains his composure and manages to keep McSlaughter jr in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McSlaughter jr passes Akers's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McSlaughter jr in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that McSlaughter jr has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Akers is in trouble now - McSlaughter jr has advanced to mount!

McSlaughter jr lands a nice shot to the head.
Akers blocking the ground and pound.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McSlaughter jr controlling his opponent.
McSlaughter jr thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike McSlaughter jr dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Donald Akers's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


McSlaughter jr throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mike McSlaughter jr seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McSlaughter jr lands a nice looking body shot.
McSlaughter jr feints a jab promting Akers to slip. McSlaughter jr then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Akers slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Akers moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
McSlaughter jr steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Akers is out on his feet! McSlaughter jr sets himself and nearly takes Akers's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mike McSlaughter jr!
