Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, George Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zhang Zhu!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zhu clinches up with Penn and pushes him back against the cage.
Zhu is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Zhu decides to pull guard.
Penn with a flurry of punches that miss.
Zhu is pulling down on Penn's head to control his posture.
Zhu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zhu wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Zhu wants to stand and escape but Penn is having none of it.
Penn cracks Zhu with a solid left hand.

Penn stands up over Zhu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Penn throwing strikes but Zhu manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Zhu tries to move into full mount but can't pass Penn's legs.
Zhu throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Penn works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Zhu thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Penn's head.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Penn wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Penn manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Zhu throws a sloppy strike and Penn has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Zhu is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Penn!
