Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes to the cage accompanied by Go To Church. Joe Jordan is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Jordan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan lands a right hook to the body.
Penn lands with a straight right. Jordan didn't see that one coming.
Jordan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jordan thows a body shot but no joy.
Penn tries to clinch up
and Jordan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Jordan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Penn throws a looping overhand right but Jordan ducks down to avoid it.

Penn throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Jordan counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Jordan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Penn throws a lazy uppercut
and Jordan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Penn thinking.
Jordan falls off balance throwing a combination
and Penn counters with a nice uppercut.
Jordan misses the body punch
and Penn counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jordan looks to land a left hand but Penn moved out of range nicely.
Jordan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Penn lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jordan at a distance.
Jordan misses with a takedown
and Penn counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Brian Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Jordan.

and Jordan counters with a shoot takedown. Penn fights it but they end up in guard.
Penn controls Jordan momentarily but Jordan frees himself.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jordan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Penn can't do much from the bottom here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We're going to have a standup here because Brian Penn wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Penn misses the body punch
and Jordan counters with a thumping low kick.
Jordan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Penn was well out of range. Poor timing from Jordan.
Penn misses with a left hand
and Jordan counters with a nice uppercut.
Penn stuffs the takedown attempt from Jordan. Jordan gets slowly back to his feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jordan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Jordan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jordan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Penn but Penn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jordan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Jordan tries to pass to full mount but Penn defends it.

Penn has a hand on Jordan's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Jordan takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Penn tries to hold on but Jordan postures up.

Jordan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Penn can't escape the position.
Jordan throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Penn because Jordan loaded up on that one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jordan landing punches.
Jordan looking to finish Penn with some ground and pound. This is bad for Penn!

Penn is bucking up trying to escape but Jordan cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn trying to punch from the bottom. They're landing but they're really not going to hurt Jordan.

Penn wants to hold on but Jordan pushes him away.
Jordan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Jordan thowing shots but they're missing.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jordan throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Jordan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Penn. No joy for Jordan on that attempt.
Penn looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Jordan misses with an uppercut. Penn saw that one coming.
Jordan lands a glancing blow to the side of Penn's head.
Jordan misses with a hook
and Penn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Penn misses with a takedown
letting Jordan counter with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jordan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Penn misses with an uppercut
and Jordan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Penn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Penn throws a predictable looking body shot

so Jordan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Brian Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joe Jordan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We're going to have a standup here because Brian Penn wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Penn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jordan's waist but Jordan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penn off to one side.
Jordan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jordan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Penn misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Jordan counters with a straight right hand.
Penn misses with an uppercut
and Jordan counters with a three punch combo that has Penn backing up. Penn nods at Jordan to acknowledge the strikes.

Jordan lands a two punch combo.
Penn connects with a crisp jab.
Penn misses with an uppercut
and Jordan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Penn's knee momentarily.
Penn throws a combination that misses
and Jordan counters with a low kick, right behind Penn 's knee.
Penn misses with a hook
and Jordan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jordan keeps the fight on the outside.
Jordan misses with a lunging right hand
and Penn makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Penn throws an off balance right hand
and Jordan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Penn misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Jordan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Penn's knee momentarily.

Jordan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jordan throws an elbow but Penn slips to the side and avoids it well.
Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Joe Jordan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jordan wants to control but Penn is keeping him busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joe Jordan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jordan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
