PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sean Justice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elijah Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rock has chosen Fire it up as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sean Justice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elijah Rock!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rock fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A low kick from Rock misses
enabling Justice to counter with a crisp jab.
Rock closes the distance but Justice moves to the side
and Justice counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rock wants to clinch but Justice slips to the side

and Justice counters with a shoot takedown. Rock fights it but they end up in guard.
Justice passes Rock's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Justice sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Justice tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rock knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Justice's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Justice's back!
Justice manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rock's guard. Nice work there by Justice.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rock is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Justice defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Justice advances position into side control!
Rock is looking for a sweep.
Rock tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Justice easily slips into full mount!
Justice can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rock is looking to escape.
Rock tries to reverse the position but Justice maintains control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rock is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rock bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Rock gets to his feet. Justice looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Rock tries to clinch
and Justice makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Rock really felt that one!

and Justice counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rock's guard now.
Justice advances position into side control!
Justice trying to control the action but Rock is working from the bottom.
Rock tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Justice presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Rock is looking to improve his position but Justice isn't that keen on the idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rock is squirming around, avoiding Justice's attempts to control the action.
Rock is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Justice goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rock turns into him and now he's in Justice's guard.
Rock postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Justice dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Justice misses the shot to the body.
Justice looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rock is fending him off so far but Justice persists. Nope, Rock circles away and we're back to standing.
Rock tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Justice counters by moving into the clinch.
Justice jumps guard but Rock stands there with Justice around his waist. Justice gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Justice fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Justice. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Justice as Rock tries to tie him up.
Justice goes for a takedown attempt but Rock pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rock tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Justice counters with a single leg into guard. Rock didn't expect that.
Rock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rock is looking for a triangle but Justice pushes his legs off easily.
Justice wants to control from the top but Rock keeps moving.

Rock isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Justice stacks Rock on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Justice!
Justice wants to control but Rock is keeping him busy.
Justice tries to advance to mount but Rock denies him.
Rock is not content to let Justice control the position.

Justice tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Justice has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Justice is trying to get an arm triangle but Rock is defending well.
Rock tries to bench press Justice off him but Justice keeps the position.
Sean Justice overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rock throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Rock tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Justice counters with a stiff right hand.
Rock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Justice circles away quickly and effectively.
Sean Justice is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Justice misses with a double jab.
Justice circles away from the clinch attempt
and Justice counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rock shoots and misses

and Justice counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Justice.
Justice jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rock walks away with a smile on his face. Justice gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rock wants to clinch
and Justice counters with a left to the body.
Rock is breathing heavily.
Rock throws a poor cross that misses

and Justice counters with a takedown into side control.
Justice wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rock keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rock struggling a bit here.
Rock tries to buck Justice off but Justice is having none of it.
Rock is trying to work for a sweep but Justice has mounted him!
Justice raining down shots from the mount!
Justice looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rock wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Justice dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Rock darts in trying to clinch
and Justice counters with a nice body shot.

and Justice counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Rock looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rock has his foot on Justice's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Justice works his way back into a safe position though.
Justice wants to control from the top but Rock keeps moving.
Justice pushing down on Rock's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Rock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Justice is keen to just control but Rock is a slippery customer.

Justice sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rock defending well though.
Justice throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Justice wants to free his trapped foot but Rock is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rock wants to improve his position but Justice is controlling well.
Rock is trying to control but Justice passes into side control!
Justice advances to full mount.
Rock is looking to get to half guard.
Elijah Rock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Justice tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rock sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Justice is trying to work for a kimura but Rock is defending well.
Rock wants to get back to full guard but Justice has mounted him!

Justice sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Justice looking to secure an arm triangle but Rock defends it well.
Justice looking to control but Rock is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Rock tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sean Justice is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Justice prevents Rock from getting the reversal.

Sean Justice showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Justice has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
